Midwest Natural Hair Health & Beauty Expo 2012

Yesterday morning I went over to Fairview Heights, IL along with my mom. She dropped me off at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel where there was a Midwest Natural Hair Expo taking place. Once I paid my $10 entrance fee I went to the sign in table where I was given a gift bag.

Gift Bag of goodies

Included in the gift bag was also a program that was informing about the various seminars and vendors that were in attendance.

After receiving my goody bag I walked around and checked out a few of the vendors before entering the main ballroom where the seminars and more vendors were, there were at least 10 vendors on the outside and lined up. My weakness is jewelry and there was one vendor who had various gorgeous huge earrings that were made out of leather. I can't believe I didn't take pictures now that I'm thinking about it.

Inside of the ballroom I encountered more vendors and even saw my beautician, Daisha who was scheduled to put on a seminar using Design Essentials products. As I walked around the ballroom I encountered more vendors with jewelry, others with clothing (scarves, head-wraps, and shirts. Other vendors had books and beauty products and/or services. Yet there was one vendor (Yisreal Divine Artifacts) that really caught my eye with a piece of jewelry that I just had to have. It was so interesting that the guy who made the jewelry saw my ring (pictured below) and knew exactly who did it. lol Apparently they know each other and I'm so thankful that I was able to get his card. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get the piece that day, but plan on getting it VERY soon.

The ring and earring below were made by the jewelry artist Bling Blam about 4 years ago. There is also a bracelet that is part of this collection

Around 11am Daisha went on with her seminar and as usual she did an excellent job.

After she was done I went over to her booth and noticed that a laptop at her booth was showcasing her tutorial DVD that she made in regards to various natural hairstyles. While watching the DVD I noticed a familiar face. My friend Patricia Reflections Moore who is a wonderful makeup artist.

Another person I recognized was a lady who goes by Sister Chris. I had the pleasure of seeing her for the first time back at a previous seminar less than a month ago. She was talking about her weight loss journey and other holistic practices.

Also there were a few of my former Wellston co-workers who have gone into business and opened a Massage Luxe located at:

3016 South Grand
Saint Louis, MO 63118

Now this expo was a two day experience (Saturday and Sunday). I only went to the Saturday episode but if today's version was anything like the previous day, then I would say people were in for a treat. I really enjoyed this and loved seeing so many black owned business being represented.

Until the next episode....
