#ShowYouSTL BackStory- WaxZenSilk Scarves

Scarves from WaxZenSilk

Yesterday I hung out with a former coworker, Jen who has a small business making scarves. The name of her business is Wax Zen Silk Scarf Creations. The style in which she makes her scarves is called batiking. This process uses wax  to make designs with  instruments called tjanting tools which come in different sizes and various styles. She makes her wax designs on blank white silk scarves which are then followed by whichever colors she uses to stain the scarves. Trust me it's not as easy as it sounds especially since I was able to see the process first hand last night. In my opinion it is definitely a tedious process but Jen is such a pro that she can do a scarf within two hours.

Ziezo: Farewell and Thank You

Today a treasure of the Delmar Loop and a boutique that has stood the test to time closed its doors for the final today at 3pm. That boutique was Ziezo. This amazing store that was located on the corner next to the Blueberry Hill restaurant, was my go to place for jewelry and accessories. I am 34 years old and I had been shopping there since I was a young teenager.

When I first heard the news that my favorite boutique was closing down, I actually cried.

Review on Imani Ashia's Headwrap workshop on Feb. 23rd

Yesterday I had the opportunity to attend a scarf workshop that I heard about back in December. As a scarf conessuoir I enjoy collecting them but as far as wearing them, I'm afraid my range is limited to just wearing them around my neck.  So I found out about this workshop through one of my natural hair groups via facebook, Show Me Naturals. I signed up for the workshop via Meetup and paid my $10 fee online.
