It's official: 2yrs of kinks and coils

Have scarf will wrap

Well this past year feels as though it has gone by fast in regards to my hair journey.  As my hair has grown throughout the year I've been able to do a few styles, including the above picture. My hair is now around 10 inches long since I measured it on May 27th. I definitely can see a difference from the previous year.

I'm really enjoying the journey and proud of myself that I haven't had a nervous breakdown. LOL

So of course I'm checking my length from time to time and can see the progress but man I just can't wait to rock an insane huge fro. That is my goal!!!

#Shake38 Shakespeare festival: Cleopatra and Antony

This past Friday I had the opportunity to participate in the Shakespeare festival which is known as Shake38. A friend of mine contacted me on April 20th and informed me that someone was going to be putting on a festival and was interested in having someone there talking about lotions and body butters and recommended my name to the person.

So I made contact with the lady by the name Ilene Berman. We decided to meetup the next day at Chronicle Coffee  so we could talk and go over what she would need from me. I made sure to bring her a sample of my shea butters so she may try them out.

Overall we had a great discussion and she informed me of the concept she was envisioning since she was in charge of the Shakespeare play, Cleopatra and Antony. I left there with ideas already brewing in my head. I needed to make up business cards, produce product labels for my shea butters, and get other items so I could give out samples.

By the time Friday came around I was ready and left work early so I could make my way to the location with plenty of time to spare. I was able to relax for a while and take in some lunch at the The Best Steakhouse off of Grand.

So I make my way to my destination 30 minutes in advance so I could have a parking spot and met Ilene at the sidewalk. She introduced me to another lady who would be doing hair, Ayanna Thompson and another lady, Angela Malchionno was on her way who would be doing nails. She was also going to bring a spare table for me to use so I may lay out my items.

My table

So the event officially started at 1:30pm, Ilene was kind enough to let me use a table cloth she brought along.

So throughout the day people came through and I talked about my products, gave out samples and my business cards. The other ladies there also were showing off their crafts. The young lady that was doing hair was doing an amazing job styling locks and even did my hair at the end.

Angela was kept busy the whole time.

By 3:30pm the event was winding down and Ayanna was doing my hair in a pretty up do. Around 4pm we were officially done and everyone was ready to go. I gave Ayanna a ride home and relaxed for the rest of the day. Overall I had a great time and told Ilene that I would be interested in the future of participating in another sidewalk show.

A few pictures of the hair style Ayanna Thompson did for me.

The right side was slowly unraveling so I took it down.

Natural Hair Product Review: A Perfect Puff

photo credit: a perfect puff website

Since my hair has been on its length journey I've been able to do a few styles. Full fro out, two-strand twist out, Fro-hawk, and a side style.  But I had not been able to do my hair in a puff. So I was looking online and saw two products catered towards being able to achieve a puff with minimal fuss. One of the products was the one above, A Perfect Puff.  For $3.99 I decided to give it a try.

So I ordered one and tried it out and simply put, I love it! I get a perfect puff every time and my head doesn't hurt from any pulling  or stretching of my hair. I can adjust the strap to make my puff smaller or bigger and I can use it as a headband. I especially love it for when I want to go work out, I can keep my hair off of my neck without having to wear a scarf to keep it up.

Perfect Puff band in place

So if you are looking for a product that that will give a perfect puff all the time, I highly give this product my stamp of approval:)

FED Cup - Tennis - USA vs. France

It's been a minute since my last post. Been a bit crazy for me in these past 4 weeks, I will definitely try to do better.

This past weekend my family enjoyed the FED Cup as it stop through Saint Louis for the weekend. My mom is a HUGE tennis fan and we originally were hoping that Serena and Venus Williams would be part of the USA roster but unfortunately they pulled out.

Yet not all hope was lost and we were able to enjoy watching Sloane Stephens and Madison Keys play on both days. We had some really great seats for both days. The first day Sloane lost her match but Madison Keys was the highlight of the day with a great match that went three sets and she pulled off a great win. The second day Sloane was able to pull in a win, but unfortunately Madison lost her's. But when the played doubles, the french ladies were able to pull one over on them. So the cumulative score at the end of Sunday was 3-2 in favor the French team.

The same seats for both days

On the second day mom decided to buy souvenir and take a picture.

Overall we had a great time and even though we had some great seats real close to the court, I decided to move to the seats that were higher because of the better view.

Our original seats

I must say I have a new found respect for tennis players. The precision of the way they have to hit those tennis balls to make a point and the shape you have to be in to run back and forth on the court is definitely not a small feat. My mom is already talking about going to the U.S. Open.....heaven help us:)
