Beware of companies that ship their products through sub-couriers - I'm talking to you ONE/SIZE

The time of shopping online have steadily increased over the years. To the point that it seems like the delivery companies that I knew of growing up such as USPS, UPS, FEDEX, and DHL (I will call them the BIG 4) possibly can't handle the volume. So now this issue has opened up an opportunity to create a new type of delivery service that I call sub-couriers. They are the ones that receive packages for delivery that either the BIG 4 don't have time to deliver so they are passed off to them to complete the route or companies prefer them due to cheaper shipping rates.

In the past I have been used to receiving my products with minimal issues when dealing with the BIG 4 but have recently notice a kick up sub-couriers doing deliveries of my orders. My first time noticing this was when I ordered something oversees. My item was delivered but I noticed it didn't have any of the BIG 4 shipping tags on it. I didn't think anything of it because again, I received my product just fine. But as the famous line goes, All Good Things must come to an end. For me that was when I noticed that some of these sub-couriers were also very subpar in their delivery services.

One example was again of a shipment from oversees recently late last year in which the courier stated they couldn't deliver my item due to its location. I have a PO BOX that is located in a UNITED STATES POSTAL BUILDING (USPS Building). I purposely have it and have had it for at least 20 years due to thwarting porch pirates. I have that PO BOX so I don't have to rush home and hope whatever I ordered is still there. I know with my PO BOX that my packages are secure until I go there to pick them up. I've been a customer of my USPS Building for so long that when I come through the door they automatically go in the back and get my packages for me before I get up to the counter. That is stellar customer service and some of the most friendly people you will ever meet.

When the courier in question emailed me to say there was a delay in my delivery I was confused because I was thinking what could be the issue. Because why would you try to make a delivery on the weekend when the USPS Building is closed on a Sunday? Better yet if you are in the courier business PERIOD why don't you research in your system if an address is Residential or a Business? I'm used to the BIG 4 that if a business is closed or a residence requires a signature confirmation they leave a note on the door to state that they were there and will attempt delivery at a different date or allow you to contact them to change when and how you want to receive your package. Because now you might want to go to their business and pick it up there instead of delivery. The big thing is that they don't leave your package just sitting unattended.

Another example is I ordered from a company called Thunda Thighs. In previous orders I had received my orders with no issues while shipping was done with the BIG 4. Yet on another order they did not go that route and ended up going with a courier that left my package out in the pouring rain at the ramp entrance of the USPS Building. Thankfully one of the workers noticed it that morning when they arrived and took it inside. When I arrived to pick it up they alerted me to the situation and even took pictures of it. I contacted the company. They were extremely apologetic and informed me that in the future if I wish for a future order to be shipped with a particular courier to let them know and they would accommodate. I did make an order and they did ship with USPS as I requested.

Fast forward to the current issue at hand. I ordered some items from ONE/SIZE Beauty earlier this month. The items were delivered on a Federal Holiday - President's Day to the front door of the USPS Building. You know what the issue is with that? ITS A FEDERAL HOLIDAY which means the USPS BULDING WAS CLOSED!!! So why would ANYONE make a delivery to a federal building on that day?! I didn't realize this issue until I went yesterday to my USPS Building to pick up the package. They informed me that when they arrived to work on Tuesday they saw a bunch of packages opened and loitered across their lawn.

I immediately reached out to OnTrac via their website to contact them. I was met with an AI Chat Bot system and couldn't reach an actually human being. I ended up leaving a message and I am awaiting a response that they said I should receive in 48 hours. I'm not holding out any hope for this to issue to be rectified on their end.

I then reach out to ONE/SIZE to inform them of the situation.

I received a prompt response from a level 1 customer rep.

They then escalated the issue to their supervisor.

When I tell you I could feel the steam coming out of my ears..... I had to put my phone down before I responded in a way that would have been most unbecoming.... But respond I did.

I don't expect a response but I had to let my position on the matter be heard. It really pisses me off because this was a birthday gift for myself. I really enjoy ONE/SIZE products and have ordered products from their website as well as in Sephora. Yet the response from the Supervisor let me know that they are a company that protects itself first and foremost. Satisfaction for their customers comes a distant 2nd if not dead last.

Overall companies such as ONE/SIZE that use sub-couriers need to be more aware of who they do business with. Customers who buy products with them assume that they will receive those purchased items without any issues and if there is a problem customers expect for that business to rectify that issue and also take to task the sub-courier (with their sub-par service) THEY decided to use to ensure that the product was delivered without issues. Out of all the sub-couriers I have experienced I can honestly say SPEED-X is the only one I have been pleased with so far. They don't have an issue delivering to my USPS Building.  Yet other sub-couriers such as YANWEN and GOFO have had issues with my PO Box address. Yet I will say at least GOFO will reach out and ask for an alternative address for delivery.

Before my products with them runs out that I currently have I will look for some close duplicates with other makeup brands so when I change over I will never look back at ONE/SIZE again. I'll list what I currently use at the end of this blog post. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

This was the order in question that was not received (stolen), so any recommendations for these would also be appreciated.
