StainColoredThoughts Photography: Jacqueline Loggin's Surprise 50th Birthday Bash

This past weekend I went to one of the most epic parties EVER!! What I am refering to is the celebration of my favorite cousin's who not only turned 50th (and doesn't look it all) but also got turnted up with family and friends (around 120 attended) who love her dearly.

This surprise party was the brainchild of her husband and family and I have to say they did an outstanding job. As my cousin Jackie said, "The bar has been raised." The celebration was held at Kemoll's Fine Dining Restuarant at the Top of the Met. We had a whole floor to ourselves and all I can say is that the food was wonderful, liquor was flowing and the music was superb (provided by our regular Smith Family Mardi Gras DJ and a live band led by the amazing Saxophonist Tim Cunningham).

Here is a link to the pictures I took a few weeks before the party  of the location for the party. I always scout out my locations in advance so I know which lenses to go with for an event.

For this place I rented  Canon 24-70mm f2.8 and 70-200mm II f2.8 lenses from Schillers. With it being an evening party I made sure to bring my flash along with my Magmod Sphere. It's a good thing I brought my flash because as beautiful as the room was, it was a doozy to photograph in. As a photographer it was definitely a challenge with the ceiling to floor windows, mirrors on majority of the walls, dim lighting, and dark ceilings. I was constantly fighting with the room for trying to suck out all the lighting.

Throughout the whole night I made sure to capture everyone enjoying themselves and most importantly capture the birthday girl in her element:)

Normally I put a link to all the pictures that were taken to an event but I'm holding off for my cousin to post them when she is ready (or when she tells me to do it). Overall it was a great party, definitely one for the record books. The last of us still there didn't make our way to the garage until 2am. Even then we were still kicking it.

At the end of the night, I messed up my shirt, sweating like crazy and had my hair up in a bun. I had the best time EVER!!!!!
