Well this morning I participated in my first Color Me Rad 5k. I had gone the day before to pick up my goodies at the Gold's Gym in Florissant, MO.
So the race was held out at the Gateway Motorsports Parkway out in Madison, IL. Since I signed up for the 9am wave I wanted to make sure I gave myself enough to find a good parking spot. So I arrive there around 8am and just wait in the gathering area while music is playing and different activities are going on.
They started the first wave of races at 8:30am, I was in the second one that started 10 minutes later. I tried to jog at first but then my right knee was like, uh-uh so I just started to speed walk for as long as I could. I will say getting splashed with the various colors from the different color stations was interesting. Some were powder while others were liquid.
I will say my only gripe was that walk was NOT made for people walking or running in my opinion. The ground was really hard and unforgiving after the first mile. Then again the track was made for racing cars. Beyond that I had a great time going by myself and the friendliness from the other people around really made it fun.
I was done with the walk a little bit over a hour and from what I tracked through my Endomondo app, the course was about 3.4 miles long. Afterwards I took my tired self home to relax before going to a party later on today. WHICH WAS AWESOME:)
So I know another fun race like this one is coming in October called The Color Run, I might sign up for that one. I had said earlier this year that I wanted to participate in more races. Having a good start so far;)
Until the next episode....
